Forty years ago, Led Zeppelin exploded onto the musical world and became one of the most successful and influential bands of all time. Today, we reviewed a box set that offers a thorough look at who influenced the legendary band.

We kicked off with "How Many More Years," a song by Howlin' Wolf that directly influenced Led Zeppelin's "How Many More Times." This song and 59 other blues, country and rockabilly songs is on a 4-disc set titled The Roots Of Led Zeppelin. It contains three discs of music, a DVD, and an excellent 30-page booklet.

According to the set, Led Zeppelin was influenced by everyone from blues giants like Muddy Waters, Memphis Minnie and Robert Johnson, to Elvis, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, and original rock 'n rollers like Bo Diddley, Fats Domino and Little Richard.

Proper Records, an indie label based in England, was responsible for releasing The Roots of Led Zeppelin. Proper is all about doing a proper job putting out excellent roots, jazz and blues music. By the way, they've also released a set titled The Roots Of Bob Dylan.
