When Amtrak's city of New Orleans rolls into Central Station May 7, bluesman and former railroader Bobby Rush will join sons of another legend, Muddy Waters, for the northbound run to Chicago.
With a three-day tour ranging from the Mississippi Blues Trail to the Windy City, Amtrak is celebrating connections between the blues and passenger trains.
Rush is scheduled to perform at the station, 545 S. Main, during the day before boarding the train during its stop between 10 p.m. and 10:40 p.m. He'll perform with Waters' sons, "Big Bill" and "Mud" Morganfield, at Chicago's Union Station on National Train Day, May 8.
