Sean Costello

What can you say about Sean Costello? That he was a brilliantly talented, inspirational bluesman who died WAY too soon on April 15, 2008, the eve of his 29th birthday... that he seemed destined to carry the blues torch gloriously into the middle of the 21st century... that he possessed a profound wealth of knowledge, love and respect for the giants of blues, jazz, gospel and soul, along with enough inner fire and passion to keep personalizing and reinventing the music, pushing its boundaries while always keeping it vibrant, keeping it true... that he was a sweet, shy kid who felt most at home with a guitar in his hands... a generous spirit, always quick to reach out a hand to someone in need, who meant the world to the family, friends and fans who loved him so much...

The purpose of The Sean Costello Memorial Fund for Bipolar Research is to apply Sean's celebrity and the love of Sean's fans and fellow musicians to increase research for treatment of Bipolar Disorder, develop and support education for early diagnosis and intervention, and translate the human side of bipolar disorder and its severity to improve outcomes and resources, especially for those without insurance, targeting the musical community.

1. To support research for early intervention and diagnosis.
2. To promote research focused on the connection between creativity and bipolar disorder.
3. To support research focusing on the connection between bipolar disorder and social anxiety.
4. To lobby for health care policy changes to facilitate better treatment and prevention.
5. To provide services for musicians who suffer such emotional challenges, but who often have no insurance and who live in a world full of triggers.
6. To provide resources for families.
