Things the Klamath Blues Society does in the community besides just the Christmas Concert are; our College Scholarship Fund for local high school musicians, Third Thursday participation, playing in the park for various events like the Migratory Bird Festival, Centennial Days, and National Public Lands Day. We also have participated for the last three years in the Art Fair, which is put on by the Klamath Art Council. We are members of the Chamber of Commerce and the Ross Ragland Theater and we have just joined The Blues Foundation, a National blues educational and charitable organization.
We are working to bring the love of Blues music to the areas high schools through our Blues in the Schools Program. One of our future goals is to have a large Fall Blues Festival in Veterans Park, bringing in several top artists to attract people from all over Southern Oregon. We are currently shooting for September 2008. In doing so we hope to bring a large number of people into our community and provide a financial boost to the downtown merchants, as well as enhance our image in the Southern Oregon community. KBS is looking to be a driving force for good community service in the area.
