What we do?

* Educational Programs. KY Blues In Schools, The Kentucky Blues Learning Center, are up and running. With your support we will do more.
* History Programs. The great Commonwealth of Kentucky has had a tremendous impact on the world of music since it's inception. Our mission is to make sure all Kentuckians know what their state has created, and one day, the whole world.
* Kentucky Blues Festival An annual multi-stage event in downtown Bowling Green, KY incorporating the best blues Kentucky has to offer. Planning date for next one, Sept. 12 & Sept. 13, 2008.
* We keep Kentucky competitive in the International Blues Challenge each year.
* We work with blues musicians seeking performance opportunities .
* We work with live music venues whenever possible to assist them in presenting and promoting live blues shows.
* Connect blues lovers and blues musicians. Our emails go out to people all across Kentucky and the world. Our website is listed as number one in searches and traffic for "Kentucky Blues" by both AOL and Google. Every month the number connected grows. KY Blues is the largest blues society ever in the state of Kentucky.
* Recognize achievement. So far, KY Blues has awarded the Kentucky Colonel Live Blues Award to Chris Cain, members of Duckbutter, Reese Wynans, Sam Bush, John Cowan, Byron House,Jeff Jones, and Bryan Lee. Selected the Mighty Jeremiahs CD as the best blues recording for 2005. Lew Jetton & 61 South as the best blues recording of 2006. Taildragger as the best blues rock recording of 2006. The Sella Vees as the best blues recording of 2007. The Beat Daddys as the best blues rock recording of 2007. Selected Kyle Daniel, Willie Smith and the Fender Benders, Andrea and Krawl, C J Vaughn & Highway 58, Brennan Graves as best in our state and our representatives to the IBC. Recognized Robert Phillips for his life of music in the state of Kentucky and his contributions to the art form. Achievement should be recognized.
* Musician assistance and charitable works. Brennan Graves had a terrible accident from which he has now recovered. KY Blues, along with many others, provided fundraising and assistance in his family's time of need. Now, thanks to the Kentucky Musicians Benefit, which Brennan headlined upon his return to the performing stage, KY Blues is better equipped to help others. KY Blues also works in partnership to raise money for charitable causes with other organizations, including, but not limited to, the American Cancer Society and the SonRhea Foundation.
* Business partnerships. Like all good causes, the support of many businesses is required to do our good works. KY Blues has several business partners and is working to increase our partnership with business, to both fund and implement our many programs. This is good for the businesses we partner with and good for our cause. Businesses that support arts programs and charitable causes get a much better return on their investment than any standard advertising program.

Radio listeners are 88% more likely to buy from companies that support charitable events than from those that advertise on commercial radio - ICR Research 2001.
