Hampton Blues Festival to feature Bobby "Blue" Bland and Tito Jackson

The Hampton Blues Festival will return to Hampton Coliseum Jan. 28 and will feature big names Bobby "Blue" Bland and Tito Jackson, promoters announced this morning.

The lineup will also include Mel Waiters, a Texas singer known for his song "Hit It and Quit It," and Mississippi guitarist Theodis Ealey whose Southern soul and blues music has been featured on several discs on the Ichiban record label.

Tickets to the Hampton Blues Festival go on sale 10 a.m. Nov. 5 from Ticketmaster and the Coliseum box office. Prices are $39.50 reserved, $34.50 for military. Through an early bird special, tickets purchased by Nov. 21 will be discounted to $29.50.

Blues Festival. Come celebrate the heritage of Blues at Hampton Coliseum featuring Bobby ‘Blue’
Bland, Mel Waiters, Theodis Ealey and Tito Jackson on Friday, January 28th at 7 pm.
Referred to as the “Lion of Blues,” Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland will bring his chart topping hits such as “Aint No
Love In the Heart Of the City” and “I Wouldn’t Treat A Dog.” He has been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997.

Making an appearance for the first time at Hampton Coliseum since the The Jacksons 1981 Triumph
Tour …Tito Jackson! Tito Jackson was the last Jackson to go solo. In 2003, Tito reinvented himself as
a blues artist and released his first album, titled “I Gotta Play.”

Mel Waiters enjoyed chart success with “Hit It and Quit It” and “Got My Whiskey”. He is still creating new southern soul music with his 2010 album, “I Ain’t Gone Do It”.

Theodis Ealey’s most famous hit, “Stand Up In It” has garnered response songs and remakes but none have come close to the original. This southern soul hit was the #1 single on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip Hop Singles Sales chart for five consecutive weeks and debuted at #5 on Billboard’s Blues Album Chart.
