Alex Wilson's family has a rich musical history. His grandmother, Rosa Saviano, was a professional jazz singer in the '40s and '50s. His father, Tom Wilson, performed with touring blues musicians as they came through Chicago and Milwaukee. His uncle, Marc Wilson, has drummed for B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughn and others. With a musical pedigree like that, it's no surprise that Wilson picked up the guitar at the age of 5.
By his early 20s Wilson was playing professional gigs as a member of the Blue Rubies and playing more than 20 gigs a month. About four years ago he started his solo project, the Marc Wilson band, which includes his uncle Marc on drums and brother Matthew on bass. Wilson recently played a series of shows in Beijing with Charlie Musselwhite to celebrate Chinese New Year and won guitarist of the year in 2008 for the Wisconsin Area Music Industry Awards.
Wilson's debut album, "Tell Me Why," was released in 2007.
